TECHNICAL GUIDANCE FOR VIETNAMESE INDUSTRIES ON HOW TO CONDUCT A PRODUCT CARBON FOOTPRINT (PCF)
This document provides
instructions for Vietnamese industries on how to quantify an inventory of
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals associated with a specific product.
The document is intended to be sector-agnostic and proposes a general framework
for companies to collect the appropriate data and calculate their product
carbon footprint (PCF) in accordance with international standards such as ISO
14067 and PAS 2050.[1][2]
Several GHG accounting standards and other relevant resources have been
provided in Annex 1, and guidance for how to calculate a PCF for select
GHG-intensive sectors is provided in Annex 3.This document was commissioned by
USAID, through the INVEST project, and was prepared by a consortium of
RCEE-NIRAS and the Carbon Trust. It is part of a compilation of surveys,
analytical reports, and guidance documents funded by USAID INVEST to support
the Government of Vietnam to understand the drivers, methods, and available
data for conducting PCF in carbon-intensive and export-oriented industries.
The document must be used along with the following PCF calculation tool and sector guidance:
● PCF Data Collection and Calculation Toolkit. Organizations can use the toolkit to calculate carbon footprints for products in the electronics, iron & steel, solar photovoltaics (PV), and garments and textiles sectors. Using the tool helps standardize the PCF process and reduce the cost and complexity of carbon footprinting. The Toolkit can be accessed here
● PCF Sector Guidance – Electronics Manufacturing. Provides instructions for how to calculate a product carbon footprint for the electronics manufacturing sector in Vietnam. The document can be accessed here
● PCF Sector Guidance – Iron & Steel Manufacturing. Provides instructions for how to calculate a product carbon footprint for the iron and steel manufacturing sector in Vietnam. The document can be accessed here
● PCF Sector Guidance – Solar Photovoltaics. Provides instructions for how to calculate a product carbon footprint for the solar PV sector in Vietnam. The document can be accessed here
●
PCF Sector Guidance
– Garment and Textiles. Provides
instructions for how to calculate a product carbon footprint for the garment
and textiles sector in Vietnam. document can be accessed here
