Waste - to – Energy
ENERFISH, a project funded by EU, is a case study on integrated renewable energy solution for seafood processing plants. This demonstration project aims to prove that the application of poly-generation technology can supply the electricity, steam, heat, hot water for the refrigeration system as well as other production processes in the plants as a energy efficiency and environment-friendly solution.
Fish waste during fish process such as fish head, fish bone, fish fat… are collected for producing biodiesel and it is used as the fuel for electricity generation for internal consumption in the plant or for grid connection.
The demonstration project has been implemented at Hiep Thanh Seafood Processing Plan in Can Tho Province, Vietnam. After three years of project implementation, the demonstration system has been successfully installed and commissioned in January 2013.
