Training on Climate Change Mitigation for HCMC Officials
In order to enhance capacity of HCMC officials to plan and monitor climate change mitigation measures, a training on climate change mitigation has been organized from 25 November – 30 December 2016 in Hochiminh City as part of Project to Support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs in an MRV Manner. The project is funded by JICA and managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Vietnam. RCEE – NIRAS, as the local consultant, has supported the international team with training organization.
The training course has attracted the participation of nearly 80 participants from all HCMC organizations involved in SPI-NAMA Project (in GHG inventory or NAMA/MRV) as well as member organizations of HCMC Steering Committee on Climate Change. The training has enhanced understanding on: Policies of Vietnam on climate change mitigation, Causes and effects of climate change, GHG inventory, Concept of NAMA /climate change mitigation measures and MRV, Calculation methods on GHG emissions and emission reductions, and Planning for climate change mitigation and integrating climate change mitigation into sectoral/thematic polices and projects.
The training was considered successful as the participants have expressed their satisfaction and confirmed that they have acquired useful knowledge for their works.
