On November 1, 2024, amidst the strong global push by international energy corporations toward clean energy transition, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) successfully hosted a Technical Seminar on Energy Transition Technologies and Trends in Hanoi. This event, part of the technical cooperation program signed on August 12, 2024, attracted over 80 in-person delegates and hundreds of online attendees, including leading experts and researchers in sustainable energy.
Ms.
Sunita Dubey, Country Representative of GEAPP in Vietnam, delivered the opening
remarks at the seminar.
Overview of the technical seminar on energy transition technologies and trends in global energy corporations
With Mr. Nguyen Tuan
Anh, Managing Director of RCEE-NIRAS and Technical Advisor to GEAPP Vietnam,
RCEE-NIRAS plays a crucial role in supporting GEAPP and
Petrolimex in achieving their strategic energy transition goals. Through
technical consultancy, organizing seminars to share experiences, and providing
advanced solutions, RCEE-NIRAS is helping develop a sustainable energy
transition roadmap for Petrolimex. This collaboration aims to position
Petrolimex as a leading enterprise in green energy in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Managing Director of RCEE-NIRAS, speaking at the seminar
At the seminar,
experts from RCEE-NIRAS and international specialists shared the latest
knowledge on clean energy transition technologies. Topics included electric
vehicle (EV) infrastructure, such as charging stations integrated with
renewable energy and battery storage systems (BESS), as well as hydrogen,
biofuels, synthetic fuels, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), carbon capture and
storage (CCS), and renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and biomass.
These technologies are foundational for the development strategies of major
global energy corporations, including bp, Shell, Petronas, ExxonMobil, and SK
energy. They form the basis for Petrolimex to consider and implement in its
production and business activities, aiming for a clean energy transition in the
future.
During the seminar,
Petrolimex Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Tu outlined the group's
strategic goals until 2025 and their vision for 2035, aspiring to position
Petrolimex as a leading entity in green, clean, and environmentally friendly
energy. The international knowledge and expertise shared by RCEE-NIRAS and
other experts at the seminar will be invaluable for Petrolimex as they develop
a comprehensive energy transition strategy. This initiative aligns with the
goal of green transition and contributes to Vietnam's commitment at COP26.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Deputy General Director of Petrolimex, delivering remarks at the seminar
