Support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs in a MRV Manner

JICA is implementing the “Project to Support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs in a MRV Manner” together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Vietnam. The purpose of the project is to enhance the capacity of the Government of Vietnam concerning the planning and implementation of NAMAs. Part of the project activities focus on Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and other cities of Vietnam. RCEE – NIRAS has been selected as the local consultant, to work with  Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. (Japan) to implement project activities in Ho Chi Minh City and other cities of Vietnam.

The Short-Term Expert Team shall: 1) assist the establishment and enhancement of the capacity of the cities in Vietnam to continuously quantify GHG emissions and reductions, taking HCMC as a model city; 2) develop and recommend an MRV style applicable at the city level in Vietnam; and 3) promote the planning, implementation and management of NAMAs in Vietnam through the development and dissemination of materials to assist the capacity enhancement of the cities in Vietnam.

A mission has been organized by the international and local consultants in Hochiminh City from 4th- 8th January 2016. During the mission, consultation meetings have been organized with the Climate Change Steering Board and relevant local departments.  The project progress as well as the overview of GHG inventory, NAMA and MRV have been updated for local authorities.
