Selection of MRV pilot projects in Hochiminh under the Support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs in a MRV Manner
In the framework of “Project to Support the Planning and Implementation of NAMAs in a MRV Manner” funded by JICA together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Vietnam, Hochiminh has selected as a model city for establishment and enhancement of the capacity of the cities in Vietnam to continuously quantify GHG emissions and reductions. RCEE – NIRAS has been selected as the local consultant, to work with Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. (Japan) to implement project activities in Ho Chi Minh City since 2015.
During the year 2016, several activities have been performed in terms of GHG inventory and selection of MRV pilot projects. Several mission have been organized by the international and local consultants in Hochiminh City from March 2016 to November 2016 for consultation and interviews with relevant stakeholders. During the missions, the MRV methodology and the long list of mitigation measures for 03 selected sectors: waste, energy and transport have been updated to the stakeholders.
Upon consultation and suggestions by the Climate Change Board of the City, MRV pilot projects should include both project-based and policy-based for pilot MRV. The selection will target 02 pilot projects for each selected sectors.
