Review of food processing sector in Vietnam
The report “Review of food processing sector in Vietnam” is the first task of the assignment: “Food processing industry – Strategic sector study and subproject pipeline development for improving energy efficiency with integrated ozone and climate benefits”. It gathers and reviews all related information on policies, laws, regulations, industry road maps, targets, fuel mix, forecasts, performance benchmarks, incentive mechanisms, sub-sector for the food processing industry in Vietnam.
With reference to international experiences, available energy efficiency technologies and number of designated energy consumers, the following sub-sectors are categorized as priority for the next steps of benchmarking process: Oil, Dairy, Frozen Aquatic Product, Sugar, Rice milling and Animal & Fish Feed because they have better potential than others.
The Consultant team has managed to consolidate a list of enterprises in priority sub-sectors from many sources. This long list will be used as base for further activities related to energy audit and energy survey in the coming steps. To understand better about energy use in priority sub-sectors, preliminary energy audits will be conducted for selected enterprises in the six priority sub-sectors.
