Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Vietnam through Capacity Building in Energy Auditing (Vietaudit 2)

Client:

Finland Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Project Duration:

2008 - 2009

Project Description

Specific targets of the Vietnam National Energy Effficiency Program (VNEEP) include saving 3 to 5 % of the total energy consumption in the period 2005-2010, and 5-8 % in the period 2011-1015 against the existing base-case forecast on energy development and socio-economic development. Ministry of Industry and Trade, through Energy Efficiency and Conservation Office, coordinates the VNEEP activities.

To further strengthen the Institutional build-up of the EE&C Office, the project enhances the Vietnamese capacity for energy auditing and by technological advice on cost-effective measures proposed by audits /or opportunity. Audit capacity building and technological advice will be performed/given in the different sectors in close co-operation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Ministry of Construction (MoC) and the Ministry of Transport through co-ordination of the EE&C Office. there will be hands-on training sessions for energy auditors in three major sectors, including industry (steel, fishery, and power generation), construction (commercial and high-rise buildings) and transportation.

The Project is co-financed by the Government of Finland and the Government of Vietnam. RCEE is in collaboration with EECO to coordinate local partners including Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Transportation, Hanoi University of Technology and other SOEs/SMEs.
