Within the framework of the project: Energy Efficiency for Agricultural pumps in Việt Nam co-funded by International Copper Association and Ministry of Industry and Trade, RCEE – NIRAS has finished Phase 1: Market Survey. The consultants team has conducted surveys and walk-through energy audits at 30 pumping systems at different capacity at 06 provinces (Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Nghe An, Quang Nam and An Giang) in 03 regions: North, Central and South of Vietnam. According to the survey’s results, efficiency performance of the surveyed systems are relatively low (65%)  and there are energy efficiency  (EE) potentials. Some EE measures have been identified, including high efficiency motor replacement or variable frequency driver installation as well as better management and operation mechanism. The project activities also provide inputs for the next phase on pilot demonstration of EE at some selected pumping systems in order to promote energy efficiency and conservation  activities for agricultural pumping systems in Vietnam.
