Overview

The US Agency for International Development Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program (USAID V-LEEP) helps strengthen the foundation for low emission energy systems in Vietnam, working to improve the country’s energy security, environment, and competitiveness by catalyzing the rapid deployment of modern clean energy services.

Through its core subcontractor – RCEE NIRAS – V-LEEP will hire one (1) intern who supports the project’s work on industrial energy efficiency. Helping to fulfill V-LEEP’s commitment to empowering women and bridging the gender gap in the energy sector in Vietnam, this intern will be the first within a Young Women in Energy internship program that provides opportunities to young women in Vietnam who are pursuing careers in the energy sector, specifically energy planning and management, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.

Place of work

The main place of work will be at the V-LEEP office in Hanoi, Vietnam. Travel inside the country may be expected as required by project activities. Work and travel will be in compliance with the policies and procedures of V-LEEP

Period of internship

3 months starting from 01 November 2017 to 30 January 2018, with possibility of extension but not longer than 3 more months

Intern Candidate Qualifications

Successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

Applicants must be female and pursuing a career in renewable energy, energy management, energy efficiency, or a related field

Currently enrolled junior or senior in Vietnamese university, or recent graduate, studying or having a degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, energy management, or a related field

Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, fluency or some English language skills is preferred but not required

Strong time management skills and ability to work independently as well as on teams

Motivated, organized, and with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments

Strong interest in low emission energy planning, renewable energy, and industrial energy efficiency and conservation

Familiar with Microsoft office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is preferred

Specific Intern Assignments / Opportunities

Support in evaluating and improving Energy Management Systems of members of participating industrial associations.

Support in transferring and encouragement of emerging market for appropriate energy efficiency and conservation technologies and services in industrial facilities.

Support in assessment of specific systems and identifying energy efficiency and conservation measures in industrial association members (e.g. lighting, boilers and distribution steam, air compressors, waste heat recovery, HVAC, advance technologies, etc.).

Support in studying and analyzing of energy efficiency policies and institutional frameworks conductive for industrial energy consumption, and energy efficiency and conservation measures.

Prepare reports and perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
